Catalina Ruiz: Art, Nature, and a Constant Journey
Catalina Ruiz is a visual artist who found the ideal place to create in the countryside. Her studio, surrounded by nature, became both her workspace and her refuge. “My place of inspiration, my everything,” she calls it. It’s where she spends most of her days, connected to the environment and her creative process.
Although she grew up on the outskirts, she later moved to Buenos Aires to study and work. For several years, she had a studio in Recoleta, until the pandemic led her back to the countryside—where she realized how much she needed it. “Painting in this space, where the only sound was birdsong and I could see the flowers and the changing seasons, gave me so much peace. I found so much inspiration here.”

Her art began as a way to release tension and explore. “I started painting to relieve stress, to create a space where I could start over, see what would happen, and just let myself go.” That spirit is still present in her work, which is expressive and closely tied to whatever stage of life she’s in. “Art is 100% passion. My work always starts from within.”
Catalina doesn’t seek to define her style too rigidly. For her, growth and evolution are part of the process. “The creative journey is infinite… it will continue until the last day of my life.”
Throughout her career, she’s always valued interacting with others. “I really appreciate other people’s input. A lot of times, they ask for things that surprise me and take me in new directions—and that enriches my art.” Over time, her work began to reach audiences outside Argentina, and social media helped it spread even more.

Over the years, certain brands and objects have accompanied her creative journey. One of them is Lázaro. “I’ve known Lázaro for many years. I’ve bought their products at different stages of my life, and I feel connected to the brand. It’s in the craftsmanship, in the effort to make every product with heart, handmade with care and labor. When something is made with effort, you can see it.”
Catalina continues to create from the same place she started: the need to express herself, to experiment, and to connect. “To my future self, I’d say: never stop doing what comes from the heart. And to my past self: be patient—things will come in time.”
